A First Look: Borgo Bello

This hidden gem was such a pleasant surprise. I would have never stumbled upon this neighborhood if it weren’t for this class (so thank you!!). Kids and families walked the streets together, which was refreshing to see after living in the city center where it doesn’t happen as often. The small cafes, restaurants, shops, churches, and gardens all contribute to the unique identity of Borgo Bello. Having said this, I am excited about the opportunity to help further the relationships between people, places, actions and values.

We had an opportunity to meet with our President, Orfeo Ambrosi (who has a great sense of humor and evidently carries a strong, positive presence in the community), and we looked at some of the work done by previous students. One observation in particular has been lingering since the neighborhood exploration. It was interesting to see that the terrace had been trashed by community members. This area provides one of the most beautiful views in Perugia, and the opportunity to tie all aspects of the community together in a place like this excites me.
