The workshop that we attended last week was full of excitement as our professors explained to community members their plans for the terrace. Young and older members, brimming with ideas, shared their visions for what could be created on the terrace. Ideas ranged from having live performances to farmer’s markets on the weekends as well as growing flowers there. However, a common theme was that the community members wanted to see the terrace become a beautiful space where there could have gatherings and activities of different sorts throughout the years. For example, in the warmer months there would be more outdoor activities like performances and farmer’s markets whereas the colder months would bring new winter activities and warmer drinks. These were all great ideas and it makes me that much more excited to begin to formulate a plan for the terrace. Despite the language barrier, I was able to understand how important this project was for the community and how willing they were to create something valuable for themselves and their families. It was a wonderful experience and I am excited for the future of the terrace. Below is a picture of a live performance in Borgo Bello that took place last month, these types of performances would be great for the terrace.
